NOTHING PUZZLING ABOUT IT

Blue Tie Blue Jean Ball raises green for autism

It wasn't until Tuesday, April 2, that folks were asked to wear blue to signify autism awareness. But those who attended the Blue Tie Blue Jean Ball, the signature fundraiser for the Arkansas Autism Foundation, got an early jump on that.

Organizers of the event, held March 28 at the Little Rock special-events venue Loft 1023, encouraged dressing in bluejeans or "little blue dresses."

Christy and Dr. Joshua Chance co-chaired the evening, for which Jose Holloway and Andrew Splawn provided music. Awaiting ball attendees were a wide variety of silent-auction items to bid on. Headlining the auction were a number of giant puzzle pieces -- the puzzle piece being an autism-awareness symbol -- painted by various artists. Guests also sipped libations and feasted on heavy hors d'oeuvres that included mini-sandwiches, meatballs, stuffed mushrooms and deviled eggs by Gina's Catering. Dessert selections included blue-frosted puzzle-piece cookies as well as mini-cake treats by Nothing Bundt Cakes.

The Arkansas Autism Foundation was begun in 2017 by local autism advocates with a mission to aid Arkansans with autism in gaining independence.
