No free tinting: Traffic police dismisses misleading reports
Reports have been circulating on social media claiming that fees for tinting front side windows of vehicles in Uzbekistan have been waived. However, the head of the information service of the Traffic Safety Department, Zoir Yuldoshev, has refuted these claims.

Yuldoshev explained that a draft resolution containing a number of driver-friendly reforms has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, but it does not include any provision for free or reduced-cost tinting of front windows.
Permitted types of tinting in Uzbekistan
Currently, tinting of rear side windows and the rear windshield does not require a permit and can be done free of charge. However, a permit is still required to tint the front side windows. This permit is issued on an annual basis.
In addition, darkening the top portion of the front windshield in the form of a strip no more than 14 centimeters in height, as well as tinting the rear windshield, is allowed without a permit, provided it complies with the approved state standards and has no restriction on light transmission.
Procedure and fees for obtaining a tinting permit
The cost of a permit to tint the front side windows is equivalent to 8 times the base calculation amount (BCA), which currently totals 3 million UZS. Permits can be obtained online via the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services. Drivers applying online are eligible for a 10% discount.
Penalties
According to Article 126-1 of the Administrative Liability Code, driving a vehicle with unauthorized tinting is subject to a fine equal to 25 times the BCA, amounting to 9,375,000 UZS.
