An autistic teenager has been left distraught after his toy horse was lost at Manchester Airport .

Thomas Kidd, 13, has carried the soft toy named ‘Horsey’ around with him everywhere since he was born.

But the special toy ended up being lost at Manchester Airport, on Sunday (February 12), when Thomas was waiting for his family to catch a flight to Basel in Switzerland.

The flight was delayed by 90 minutes, causing Thomas to become distressed, and it is thought ‘Horsey’ became lost near Terminal 1, gate three.

His family are now appealing for any holidaymakers or airport staff who may have seen the toy to get in touch.

‘Horsey’ is described as pale blue, with strings coming from his head and a soft body.

Thomas’ mother, Anne Kidd, has also posted images of the toy on social media sites and described the toy as an ‘extension to his arm’.

She has also shared a video of Thomas visibly distraught while on holiday because he is missing ‘Horsey’.

Anne, of Leyland, Lancashire, said: “Thomas has had Horsey since he was born. Being autistic, he hasn’t developed usual relationships.

“That’s why Horsey was so very special, Thomas really had a very special relationship with Horsey. He slept on him every night and was an extension to his arm during the day.

“When needing to use his hand, Horsey would be tucked under his arm. He absolutely loved him and talked to him in his own babble language.

“In truth Thomas showed the most affection to his Horsey more than people.”

She added: “We haven’t been able to take Thomas on a plane for six years, but I used to live in Germany and I very much wanted to meet up with my friends who we haven’t seen for so long with our whole family, including Thomas. This is why we were trying it out of season, when it was likely to be quieter.”
