Gaithersburg Man With Autism Reported Missing Found Safe

A man with autism has been found after being reported missing in Gaithersburg Thursday, Maryland, police say.

Police say Alvaro Cervantes, 28, is safe and unharmed.

Cervantes left his home on McDonald Chapel Court about 2:30 p.m. Thursday to go shopping, but had not been seen since, police said. Police say he left on foot.

Cervantes is described as a Hispanic male who is 5 feet 4 inches and weighs 140 pounds. He has curly black hair and brown eyes and he may be walking with a limp.

Cervantes is familiar with public transportation and police said he could have been at a bus stop or transit center or be carrying a white backpack.
