Another series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here is under way, promising a new class of reality TV hopefuls attempting yet more stomach-churning bushtucker trials.

Stars taking part in the 2019 series in Australia include Caitlyn Jenner, Ian Wright and Kate Garraway. Some lesser-known names taking part in this year's series include Myles Stephenson, Andrew Maxwell, Adele Roberts and James Haskell.

Since its debut in 2002, the show has attracted a varied line-up of famous faces - no doubt because a successful stint on the series can often serve as a launch pad for a showbiz comeback.

As a new cohort of celebrities prepare to face their worst fears in the jungle, here is what former Kings and Queens of the jungle are up to now...

Tony Blackburn (2002)

The former BBC Radio 1 DJ was the first celebrity to sit on the jungle throne back in 2002.

He has continued to work in radio and currently presents a weekly show on KMFM Radio, Kent, on Sunday afternoons.

Following his I’m A Celebrity win - and his retirement from professional cricket - Tuffers has joined the BBC’s Test Match Special team and has also hosted cricket shows for BBC Radio 5.

He competed in the seventh series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2009, reaching the ninth week of the contest with partner Katya Virshilas.

After her stint in the jungle, Katona has appeared on numerous reality shows, including a trio of programmes for MTV and ITV’s skating contest Dancing On Ice.

She was a runner-up in the 2011 series of Celebrity Big Brother before reuniting with her former Atomic Kitten bandmates for ITV2 series The Big Reunion, which saw other 90s and 00s pop groups attempt to stage a comeback.

Carol Thatcher (2005)

Thatcher appeared as a reporter for The One Show between 2006 and 2009 but was later axed by the BBC after she was overheard using the word “golliwog” in reference to a tennis player.

The broadcaster said she could no longer work on the show unless she made an apology, but Thatcher refused as she said she had not meant to use the term “in a racist way.”

Matt Willis (2006)

Following his triumphant jungle stint, Willis teamed up with his now-wife Emma to present I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! NOW! for ITV2 in 2007 and 2008.

Since then, though, he has been focusing on his music career, joining forces with Busted bandmate James Bourne and McFly to form supergroup McBusted before reuniting with third Busted member Charlie Simpson for a third studio album.

Christopher Biggins (2007)

Dave Benett

The garrulous actor and TV star has since dabbled in other reality TV projects, including an unforgettable episode of Celebrity Come Dine With Me (which he won, too), Celebrity Masterchef, The Celebrity Chase and Celebrity Big Brother, but was axed from the Channel 5 show over offensive comments.

He continues to enjoy a successful career in panto.

Joe Swash (2008)

After being crowned King of the Jungle in 2008, Swash returned to Australia each year to film ITV2’s I’m A Celebrity spin-off show, though he won’t be appearing on the series in 2019.

He started dating fellow I’m A Celebrity winner Stacey Solomon in 2016 (after first meeting her when she filmed the show in 2010) and the couple are now parents to a son, Rex.

D’Acampo’s TV cookery career has gone from strength to strength since his time in the jungle. He regularly appears on This Morning to whip up dishes for presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield also has also presented five series of Gino’s Italian Escape for ITV.

He has also launched a series of self-titled Italian restaurants in London, with another outpost in Manchester.

Just one year after she came in third place in the sixth series of The X Factor, Solomon won over the public and was crowned Queen of the Jungle.

She then started work on her debut album, which was eventually released in 2015 after a series of delays.

In 2016, Solomon joined Loose Women as a guest panellist and has continued to appear regularly on the show. She joined I’m A Celebrity spin-off Extra Camp as a co-host with her partner Swash later that year but only appeared on one series.

She welcomed her second child in 2012 and gave birth to a third son, Rex, her first child with Swash, in May this year.

Dougie Poynter (2011)

Poynter continued to perform with his McFly bandmates following his time in the jungle, with the group releasing a greatest hits album in 2012 and joining forces with Busted to become McBusted in 2013.

The group announced a hiatus in 2016 but confirmed a comeback earlier this year and are set to headline the O2 Arena for the first time later this month.

A committed environmentalist, Poynter recently wrote a children’s book about single use plastic. He has also performed with the band A since 2018.

Charlie Brooks (2012)

EastEnders star Brooks continued appearing on the soap until 2014.

She recently starred in the play All In A Row, which attracted considerable controversy for its use of a puppet to portray a non-verbal autistic boy.

Brooks, who played the boy’s mother, told the Standard: “No one set out to offend anyone.

“This is a story that is rarely told. I just hope people will come and see it instead of sitting at home getting angry.”

The Westlife star released a solo album, Home, in 2014 before reuniting with his bandmates in 2018 to mark the group’s 20th anniversary.

The band embarked on a tour this year and are set to release their next studio album soon.

Egan and wife Jodi Albert wekcined a second son in 2015 and a third in 2017.

The superbike champion has largely stayed out of the public eye since his win but continues to attend sporting events.

Vicky Pattinson (2015)

PA

The former Geordie Shore star enjoyed a series of guest roles on daytime shows like Loose Women and This Morning after taking the trophy and joined Extra Camp in 2016.

She returned to the jungle for the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity in 2018 and came in fourth place.

Later that year, she split from fiance John Noble when she learned that he had cheated on her and has since started a relationship with former TOWIE star Ercan Ramadan.

Gogglebox’s breakout star has started a successful presenting career since her time in the jungle, appearing on a reboot of dating show Streetmate and as a guest presenter of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Her recent Channel 4 effort, The British Tribe Next Door, has sparked controversy with viewers expressing concerns over the premise, which saw her family move to a village in Namibia.

Georgia Toffolo (2017)

PA

Toff has appeared on This Morning and notably raised eyebrows when she interviewed Jacob Rees Mogg for the ITV magazine show.

Harry Redknapp (2018)

After his I’m A Celebrity success, Redknapp fronted a two-part special for ITV, Harry’s Heroes, which saw the footballer manager attempt to kick former England stars into shape ahead of a ‘legends’ match against Germany.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here launches on ITV at 9pm on November 17.
