Jewel Changi celebrates fifth year with entertainment experiences and shopping promotions

The Rain Vortex has become one of the most popular attractions at the retail and leisure complex 

SIGNAPORE. Leisure, retail and dining complex Jewel Changi Airport (Jewel) is marking its fifth anniversary with a host of retail and dining offers and new entertainment experiences.

The anniversary bash takes places as Jewel continues to welcome more visitors amid strong travel recovery. In line with the notable increase in passenger traffic at Changi Airport, foot traffic at Jewel has seen a year-on-year uptick of +26% during the fiscal year 23/24, with overall sales climbing by +20%.

Of the total footfall recorded, 30% were overseas travellers from top source markets China, Malaysia, Taiwan, USA and Indonesia.

Jewel’s distinctive entertainment attraction, the 14,000sq m Canopy Park, also experienced growing popularity, marked by a +12% rise in total visitors and +35% sales growth.

Its exclusive Double Rewards loyalty programme attracted more members, with a +10% rise in membership base. Jewel noted that it is the only mall in Singapore that awards two sets of loyalty reward points for each transaction.

Aside from retail offers and new experiences, Jewel’s fifth anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year with special events under the theme of ‘What A Feelin5’.

Entertainment experiences

The Light & Music show promises to dazzle visitors at Jewel

Jewel has launched a stunning Light & Music display at its signature Jewel Rain Vortex.

Centred around the theme ‘What A Feelin5’, the five-minute show features unique elements of Jewel’s offerings, including its domed façade and lush greenery, accompanied by uplifting music. The show is created by popular water feature designer WET.

The celebrations also include a behind-the-scenes tour, titled ‘In the Eye of the Jewel Rain Vortex’, starting from the second half of this year.

The tour offers exclusive access to never-before-seen views of the Jewel Rain Vortex from the inside, and a glimpse of the intricate workings of the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. The programme will also introduce participants to the work behind getting Canopy Park ready for operations every morning.

Marquee events

Jewel has prepared a series of marquee events throughout the year, including the return of Jewel Blooms in June.

Launched last year, the festival showcased original floral installations from Singapore’s leading floral designers.

This year’s edition is set to take place from 24 May to 11 August at Canopy Park, highlighting installations inspired by emotions such as happiness, peace, love, passion and a touch of adventurous discovery, which reflect the different feelings of travellers at Jewel, the company noted.

Other attractions at the festival will include larger-than-life displays and enchanting kinetic flowers.

Jewel Blooms will feature a special collaboration with award-winning Singaporean garden designer Andy Eng and Japanese floral artist Megumi Shinozaki, known for her sustainable works. The partnership will see the Petal Garden house a large-scale floral artwork made from fresh and preserved flowers.

The Youth Floral Cup will make its return on 24 May with 50 slots opened for children aged seven to 12.

Collaborations and exclusive perks

Jewel is providing its customers with more than 50 special anniversary offers across its retail, dining and in-store outlets. These exclusive offers and promotions will be rolled out in phases.

Among the participating retailers launching special collections exclusively at Jewel is Starbuck’s, which released a Singapore-exclusive cold cup adorned with the famed Rain Vortex.

Asian Artistry Fine Jewellery is offering its Jadeite Pendant, a limited-edition bespoke jade jewellery creation inspired by the Jewel Rain Vortex.

Kate Spade has released its Jewel anniversary-themed limited-edition expression with its Morgan Bow Handbag, a crepe pink patent-leather envelope flap crossbody. Polo Ralph Lauren introduced an exclusive graphic print featuring its signature Polo Bear against the popular Singapore skyline and Jewel.

Dining venues are also joining the celebrations with Jewel-exclusive menu items on offer. These include Burger & Lobster’s Cereal Lobster, grilled lobster infused in spices and coated in crispy toasted cereal; Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery’s Bejeweled Bombe, vanilla bean Chantilly-filled bomboloni with popping candy chocolate coating; and Anthology by Compendium Spirit’s Jewel Spritz, made with its signature rojak gin, lime juice, butterfly pea cordial, prosecco and pearl dust.

‘Redefining the retail experience’

As it celebrates its fifth year, Jewel is further expanding its retail offers with store openings in May and June, including flagship outlets.

Highlighting its mantra ‘where the World meets Singapore, and Singapore meets the World’, the retail complex will introduce a mix of local and international brands. These include homegrown brand Charles & Keith, which is expanding its current footprint at Basement 1.

Also due to open this year are Fila’s debut flagship store in Singapore, taking up a duplex store at Level 2; Bimba Y Lola (Level 1), with its largest store in the country at more than 148.6sq m; and New Era (Level 2), with its unique customisation services.

Other new-to-market brands to open their first Jewel store are fashion & accessories brand Setirom; Satellite Paris, a Parisian brand focusing on timeless designs of handcrafted jewellery; and Royal Host, one of Japan’s most popular family restaurants.

Ipoh Town, which specialises in traditional Ipoh cuisines; and Nai Xue, which serves a range of healthy tea beverages are also set to launch stores at Jewel.

Giving back to the community

Jewel is marking its fifth anniversary with charity events in partnership with Metta Welfare Association. Proceeds from the events and auction will be channelled to the development of the Maitri School/Building project, which will be ready by 2028.

Maitri School will be the second Special Education School set up by Metta to provide education for students with moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Twelve auction items were generously sponsored by Jewel’s tenants, including a limited-edition Louis Erard x seconde/seconde x Watches of Switzerland – Long Awaited Email.

Other sponsored items for the live auction include an exquisite Be@rbrick Flor@ collectible that features a bouquet of red roses enclosed in its transparent torso. The highly sought-after Blackpink x Starbucks collection of tumblers, cold cups and water bottles will also be offered for bidding by the participating guests.
