Letter to the Editor: Thanks to Senator Collins and her work on the Autism CARES Act

2 mins read

Dear Editor,

As a mother of a child with autism, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Senator Susan Collins for her leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to families like mine.

Living with autism is a journey filled with both challenges and incredible moments of growth, but it’s not a journey any family should have to face alone. Thanks to Senator Collins and her work on the Autism CARES Act, families across the country have greater access to the resources, research, and support we so desperately need. Her advocacy has made a tangible difference in the lives of so many.

I’ve had the opportunity to meet Senator Collins personally, and it was immediately clear how much she truly cares. She listens with empathy, asks thoughtful questions, and understands the importance of early intervention, lifelong services, and the power of giving every child the opportunity to thrive.

Too often, autism policy can feel like just another issue lost in the noise of Washington, but Senator Collins makes it personal. Her leadership has helped shine a light on the needs of the autism community, and for that, I will always be grateful.

From one mom who’s living it every day: thank you, Senator Collins, for standing with us and for continuing to be a voice for children and families who need one.
