At the museums and galleries

• The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War is open 1-4 p.m., seven days a week at the Brandon Municipal Airport. The museum’s RCAF Second World War Memorial is open to the public from sunrise to sundown. For more information, call 204-727-2444.

• The Arts West Travelling Gallery — The travelling gallery is at the Shoal Lake Library until Saturday. It then moves to the Strathclair Community Centre.

• The RCA Museum (Royal Canadian Artillery Museum) — An award-winning national museum that has five major galleries and more than 30 vehicles and guns located outside in the Gun Park. Located at CFB Shilo, we are proud to present “1918 — The Last 100 Days.” This temporary exhibit traces the Canadian experience at the end of the First World War in France and Belgium. Some of the hardest fought battles and highest casualty rates came at the end of the war — 100 years ago. This exhibit runs until Dec. 14. Wheelchair accessible. • The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba — In the Main Gallery: Between IV: Work by Brandon University’s Department of Visual and Aboriginal Art Students on until Saturday. In Studio 78 (29 10th St., second floor): Yes, I’m Here. Blunt X Skensved: This is an off-site installation about artifical intelligence and smart home technology. • The Daly House Museum — Original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly, was built in 1882 and is the only period museum in western Manitoba. New exhibit in the Community Gallery to celebrate Women’s History Month: New Woman’s Fashion Revolution, is a 100-year retrospective that focuses on the changes in women’s fashions from the 1880s to the 1980s and the underlying seismic shifts in women’s roles in Canadian society. • Virden Pioneer Home Museum — Off-season tours (weather permitting) can be arranged by contacting the museum office at 204-748-1659. Tours are $5 adults/$2 for children. The original home (built in 1888) depicts a family home in the Victorian era and additional annexes showcase other home, business, military and farm-related displays. Regular daily tour will commence in May 2019.
