Personalized Medicine and Autism Spectrum Disorder Conference in New York City

This groundbreaking program created a collaborative forum to enhance knowledge of biomedical research and global autism initiatives.

Dr. Joshua Weinstein, CEO and Founder of ICare4Autism spoke about the need for such collaboration and 'best practices' to help create new opportunities and better the lives of children and adults with Autism. He spoke about the accomplishments of ICare4Autism such as the international initiatives and collaborations that took place with officials in Ghana, Singapore, Armenia and Nepal. Dr. Eric Hollander, the chairman of advisory committee for ICare4Autism and the Director of Autism and Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Program and Anxiety and Depression Program and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine outlined ICare4Autism's mission and goal of collaboration with like-minded organizations, as well as presented some of his scientific research, focusing on Novel and experimental therapeutics in autism spectrum disorder and prader willi syndromes.

Cuong Do, the Executive Vice President, Global Strategy Group at Samsung spoke about App and web-based games designed to help individuals with autism identify and strengthen abilities and motivations.

ICare4Autism was honored to have more experts in the fields of science and medicine join them at this conference such as Judy Van de Water, PhD, the Co-director of the IDDRC and Director of the UC Davis Center for Children's Environmental Health, Hakon Hakonarson, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Inge-Marie Eigsti, PhD Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Connecticut, Aleksandra Djukic. MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology and Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Director of the Tri-State Rett Syndrome Center at the Montefiore Medical Center and W. Ted Brown, Director of the New York State Institute for Basic Research (IBR) in Developmental Disabilities, Chair of the IBR Department of Human Genetics and Director of the IBR Jervis Clinic.

At the conclusion of this conference, participants were able to improve understanding of the current biomedical research and experimental therapeutics in ASD and apply standard practice guidelines for the assessment and treatment of people with ASD.
