Carbondale-based Ascendigo Autism Services, a nonprofit which provides help for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), announced the hiring of Carrie Scott as its new clinical director. This addition to the team coincides with Ascendigo’s celebration of 20 years serving the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond, according to a news release.

Since its inception in 2004, Ascendigo has progressively expanded its services and presence, supporting local families and extending its offerings to include year-round recreational activities such as winter sports. The organization also provides a comprehensive life skills program for adults and vital early intervention and behavioral therapies for children.

Additionally, Ascendigo offers training for school staff, local families and caregivers, community members, other providers of autism services, law enforcement agencies, and has recently introduced Ascendigo Academy, an online educational platform. The nonprofit’s mission is to foster the integration of individuals with autism into community life, emphasizing recreational and social inclusion through adventure sports, developmental life skills, suitable employment and active community involvement.

Scott, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 25 years of experience, brings a wealth of knowledge and a profound commitment to the autism community. Having already consulted with Ascendigo for over a decade, her transition to a full-time leadership role is a natural step. Scott has been consulting with the Ascendigo team for over 10 years.

“The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for Carrie to join the team as our new Clinical Director,” Ascendigo Autism Services Chief Executive Officer Dan Richardson said in the release. “Not only does Carrie have the incredibly rare and valuable combination of clinical expertise, administrative acumen, and mentoring respect, but having consulted with Ascendigo for more than a decade, she understands and has helped shape the Ascendigo Way. With Carrie leading our clinical team and a new home base for our programs and services, Ascendigo’s future looks amazing!”

Scott’s approach to care emphasizes naturalistic teaching methods and integrating learning into daily activities and new experiences. She is dedicated to employing evidence-based practices to enhance the lives of those on the autism spectrum, according to the release.

“Having Carrie on the Ascendigo team is a dream! Her level of clinical expertise is unmatched,” Ascendigo Life Enrichment and Outreach Program Director Kelly Hoffman said in the release. “With Carrie on board and the new space on the horizon, the future for Ascendigo is looking bright.”
