Navigating a child’s autism diagnosis can be a daunting journey, filled with uncertainties and challenges. Amber Arrington is a mother to six children, three of which were diagnosed autistic. Her experience navigating her children’s diagnosis led her to found Autism Savvy, an organization with a goal to help parents confidently navigate autism with education, resources and direct access to professionals. “When a parent leaves a psychologist appointment with a new diagnosis in hand, they are rarely given any information about autism as a whole,” Arrington said. “Autism Savvy aims to make the information available and easier to understand.”

The organization debuted in 2023, following the release of Arrington’s book, “Not Atypical Motherhood: The Guide for Navigating a Child’s New Autism Diagnosis,” which combines personal narratives with advice and guidance on how to support children with autism. After releasing the book, Arrington wanted to take her goal one step further by creating an organization providing comprehensive resources and guidance.

The website offers a variety of free resources to meet diverse and complex needs. It offers educational blogs, videos and engaging social media content.

The website includes the Infinity Moms Club, a paid membership that offers educational opportunities such as “Autism Accelerator Boot Camp,” as well as a directory of specific resources and events like book clubs, Mom’s Night In and Q&As with experts.

Arrington plans to launch a podcast in the coming months that will discuss topics related to caring for children with autism. The goal, above all, is to help parents feel informed and reassured about their child’s well-being.

The organization recently hosted “Autism Savvy Summit: While You Wait Edition,” a free, three-day virtual event in which Arrington and other experts educated parents on caring for and supporting their child while waiting for a diagnosis. The event included panel talks, Q&A sessions, access to a private summit community, and more.

Arrington hopes parents utilize Autism Savvy to answer their questions and find some relief and comfort in the idea that they are not experiencing the ups and downs alone.

“I hope parents can help their autistic child thrive as they work toward their new normal,” Arrington said. “I work with moms and dads all over the world, and the feedback is a resounding expression of gratitude that there is finally a place where they can learn, grow, and belong.”
